The 6th grade boys basketball game has been canceled for tonight!

Here are the October Students of the Month for AFC Jr/Sr High!
This month teachers looked for students who showed respect. They were respectful to staff, students and the building throughout the Month. Congratulations!

Seventeen members of the AFC FFA Chapter traveled to Indianapolis November 1st through 3rd to experience National FFA Convention. Members toured the University of Illinois Vet Med College and Poe's Hampshires along with attending sessions, workshops, and community service projects. #AFCFFA

This week at AFC (November 6 - November 11)

Students created a play dough color wheel in Academic Enrichment STEAM today. They measured out equal parts of primary color play dough and then their goal was to create an equal 12 or 6 part color wheel. After they got to make a creation.

Congratulations to our Raider of the Week - Lane! This young man has the biggest heart, and is an emerging leader here at AFC. He continues to grow both on the field and in the classroom, where his leadership is starting to shine. Lane always has a smile on his face and is the first one to jump in to help in any fashion. Congratulations, Lane!

Come on out to Meet the Raiders - Winter Sports Edition next Friday, November 10th at 7pm in the High School Gym!

A few weeks ago I posted the beginning of our drawing lesson that had third and fourth graders drawing leaves from observation. Students had the opportunity to draw the leaves several times, using a variety of different drawing media, including colored pencils, crayons, regular Crayola markers, sharpies, chalk, oil pastels, and the iPad to do a digital drawing. Here are a few examples of their work. Notice, the careful attention to detail with the color placement on their leaves, bravo, young artists!
The artists are Lianna, Brycen, and anonymous, maybe Banksy 🤷♀️😜.

In honor of Halloween, and the fact that children have a difficult time focusing on days like today, we did a fun little project in seventh grade, where we made x-ray hands! #afcartball

Please review the attached flyer for reminder about this week's events!

The cool weather is here - it's time for fall attire!

This week at AFC (October 30 - November 4)

Mrs Engelbart's Biology students are on the case of solving where a victim last ate. They tested "stomach contents" for carbohydrates, proteins, and lipids.

Congratulations to our Raider of the Week - Taylor! She has been an amazing asset to the volleyball team for the last four years, and rounded out her senior night with an incredible performance. Her continuous leadership, kindness, and infectious attitude made her an easy nominee. Congratulations, Taylor!

This week at AFC (October 23 - October 28)

Today is the day! Join us for dinner at the Culver's in Rochelle from 5-8pm and help support the students traveling to Ireland! #AFCFFA

We appreciate community partnerships to enhance classroom learning. Mr Smith's Drivers Ed class had Lee County Deputy Seeley in today. Students practiced a traffic stop and were able to ask questions about the rules and expectations. Thank you Officer Seeley for being here today and thank you Mr Smith for ensuring our student drivers are prepared!

On the final day of 🚌National School Bus Safety Week🚌 here are a few of their favorite things 🎶
AFC drivers have over 50 years experience! Some of their favorite things about being a Bus Driver for AFC over the years are the sports trips, seeing the students each day, and watching the students grow and achieve over the years.
💛🖤THANK YOU, DRIVERS!🖤💛

🚌 This week is National School Bus Safety Week🚌
Today's safety tip: Listen to your bus driver as they want to get you home safely. Using "inside voices" as a passenger allows the drivers to quickly relay necessary information to passengers.
