Ashton-Franklin Center Jr/Sr High School NHS members assist with supervision for our AFC Elementary shuttle students each morning. Whether it's playing in the gym, coloring together to decorate the cafeteria, or simply sharing a positive message to start their day, we are proud of these leaders and how they care for our elementary students. On Friday (9/1), our 8th grade and Junior American History students had the incredible opportunity to visit the traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall at its stop in Rock Falls. While a 3/5 replica in size, the impact was full scale. The students got to experience the magnitude of the 58,307 service men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in Vietnam. Students got to shake the hands of Vietnam Veterans and thanked them for their service. Others found the names of family members who have had their names immortalized on the wall in Washington D.C. Overall, the trip was a wonderful experience, and one that won't soon be forgotten! Thank you to Mr Cissna & Mr Treadwell for organizing such a unique learning opportunity to tie back to your classrooms!
