Monday night, upcoming 7th and 9th-grade students attended Orientation at the Jr/Sr High School. Pathway TA students ran informative sessions in preparation for the transition to 7th and 9th grade. Presenters from SVCC attended to share about the IMPACT program, where 9th-grade students can earn free tuition through volunteering in our community. Thank you to the FFA Alumni, IMPACT, Volleyball, and Football programs for having informative tables for students to visit to investigate the opportunities available here!
Congratulations to Mallory Henert for receiving the Dekalb Agricultural Accomplishment Award! The Dekalb Award recognizes one student in every FFA chapter who shows a passion for and a commitment to agriculture, scholarship, and a good work ethic. Mallory has worked diligently in the AFC FFA for the past six years with accomplishments including serving as Chapter President, receiving her State FFA Degree, and recognized as a state finalist in her Discovery area for being the manager of the Farmers Market. Well deserved, Mallory! #AFCFFA
On May 2nd, the Jr/Sr. high school held its second annual College and Career Day! Students were able to go to three different speaking sessions and hear about different careers. 7th grade students learned about career exploration, the importance of attendance and passing classes in their early high school years, and different opportunities available to them in high school. They also heard from a senior panel, who reflected on their experiences at AFC.
From live musical performances, to senior art portfolios, to Spanish projects and everything in between; the first AFC Jr/Sr High School showcase was a success! Thank you to all of the community members that came out Wednesday night. A big thank you to the students and staff that put it all together!
Students tested their engineering skills by using various weights to see if their bridges would hold strong.

Wednesday May 8th is a big day at AFC Jr/Sr High School! Join us for the Student Showcase from 4:00-6:00pm to see some of the fantastic 7th-12th grade projects from this school year. NHS induction will follow at 6:15pm. At 7:00pm we will celebrate the many achievements and scholarship awards for our AFC students. Join us at the Jr/Sr High School in the HS gym as we have a packed evening of celebrating students!

Join us tomorrow in honoring and celebrating Henry during OI Awareness Wishbone day by wearing yellow. OI is a collagen disorder caused by a gene mutation that affects bone formation/strength and the structure of other tissues. Individuals with OI may experience hundreds of fractures over a lifetime.

As incoming 7th and 9th-grade students, you will hear from students and staff about courses, organizations, expectations, and more. Don't miss out! On May 1st, Kate Viall participated in the District 1 Creed Speaking Leadership Development Event. Ten first-year FFA members presented the FFA Creed to a panel of judges and answered questions about the Creed's purpose and their interpretations of its words. Kate received fourth place overall. Congratulations! #AFCFFA
This year, the Junior class built a wooden pergola for the AFC Prom Grand March. Now that Prom is over, they are looking for buyers to purchase the arch!
