AFC students enrolled in an AG class along with their guardians are invited to the annual FFA Banquet held in the JH Gym on March 15th.
Kate Viall represented AFC Jr/Sr High at the regional spelling bee yesterday. She competed against 30 of the best spellers from Lee, Ogle, and Whiteside counties and made it to the third round! Great job, Kate!

These students competed at the FFA District 1 Proficiencies last night in Geneseo. Each FFA member interviewed in front of a panel about their Supervised Agricultural Experience record book projects. In order to participate, members must win their area at the section level to advance.
A special shout out to Kate Viall, who will be advancing to State Proficiencies as the District I Discovery Star in Placement for her books on hog cooperative, baseball concessions, and doing chicken chores for neighbors.

The 7th grade GBKB team plays Winnebago tomorrow at 9:00 in the Rt. 72 Conference Tournament. The 8th grade will play Forreston at 10:10 in the same tournament. Games will be held at the Blackhawk Center in Oregon. 2nd games in the tournament will depend on how the teams do in their first game.

Raider of the Week 3/1/23: Congratulations to Mallory Coffman for being named this week's Raider of the Week for Art. Mallory has had artwork selected to be in the Rockford Young Artists Show at the Rockford Art Museum. The museum invites schools within a 50-mile radius to submit artwork and a juror selects pieces to be in the show. Mallory's work will be on display from March 5-April 2. Mallory is the daughter of Laura and Kevin Coffman. The AFC FFA took first place in both the high school and middle school divisions of the Section 2 FFA Food Science Career Development Event held in Rochelle. Students did triangle tests, identified aromas, tested their knowledge and math skills, and designed a trail mix, The following students placed in the top 10: Justin Henert - 1st, Izzy Cater - 2nd, Reese Polk - 4th, Austin Waters - 5th, Elijah Baker - 6th, Logan Mershon - 7th , Brody Ellis 9th, Chase Hayes Near 10th, Kate Viall - 1st Middle School, Seth Degand - 2nd Middle School. Unfortunately, it will not work on the phone. All athletes need an updated physical on file with Mrs. Gittleson.
