The horticulture class grafted Whitney crabapple scions to rootstock in class. Big thanks to Adam Viall for helping the students practice their grafting techniques.
Please join us at the Elementary School on Tuesday, May 30th from 10:30 - 11:00 AM. Our 2nd, 3rd, & 4th grade students will perform a few songs to show off some of things they have learned in music class. Second graders will be bucket drumming, third graders will play the recorder, and fourth graders will play the ukulele. The program will be held in the gymnasium. We hope to see you there!

Congratulations to Zane Murphy for qualifying for the IHSA State Track Meet. Zane is a part of the qualifying 4 x 400 Relay Team. His team will compete in the prelims on Thursday at Eastern Illinois University at approximately 2:30! If the team qualifies for finals, they will compete on Saturday. Awesome job Zane and good luck to you at the State Meet!

A beautiful tradition here at AFC. Our Elementary students and staff lined up as the Senior class took one more walk down the halls of AFC Elementary. Their journey began here. They've been challenged, taken risks, and grown together. Tomorrow they will receive their diplomas. We are so proud of the Class of 2023! Go Raiders!

Four of the newly-elected AFC FFA Chapter Officers attended Chapter Officer Leadership Training at SVCC. Mallory, Taylor, Jacob, and Kate worked together, listened to speakers, and gained insight on leadership and their chapter. #AFCFFA
A couple of notes about today's baseball game at Sterling Newman.
1) This is a regional game, therefore there will be $5 admission fee per person.
2) It is Newman's graduation this evening, so parking will be limited.
AFC plays Morrison at Newman at 4:30. If they win, they will play Saturday at 2:00.

The Horticulture class enjoyed a trip to the Rotary Botanical Gardens in Janesville, Wisconsin. Students went on a scavenger hunt for plants that they learned throughout the year as well as learning the history of the garden. We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day!
The Lady Raiders softball team plays in the semifinals of the regional at Forreston against Forreston at 4:30.

A bittersweet day with our Seniors today. Thank you to Mrs Viall who organized Senior Give Back Day! AFC Seniors spent the day lending a helping hand at AFC Elementary. From PE & recess, to book organizing, to cleaning up the landscaping - our Seniors spent their final day investing in our young Raider students. These amazing students will be missed in the halls of AFC, but their legacy of citizenship and leadership are handed down to the next generation of AFC Raiders 💛🖤
